E for Excited

Two Flawless Articles on Overc... What I Learned At the Library...

I am now officially excited about the movie version of V for Vendetta, opening this November. In case you haven't heard, V for Vendetta is a supremely excellent graphic novel about an anarchist philosopher's one-man war against a fascist dictatorship in Britain's dystopia future. The poster sold me, but maybe that's just because I've read the book ten times. The work is full of politics, philosophy, and even economics, but most importantly, it's a great read.

I dunno, Alan Moore has officially come out and trashed the script, so I'm a little skeptical. Hopefully it will be more Matrix the Matrix: Reloaded. Miracle Man needs to be put into movie form (the Gaiman version especially).

Another good graphic novel I've heard of is The Watchman. (Or was it Watchmen? Ah well. It sounded good.)

The cuneiform inscription in the Liberty Fund logo is the earliest-known written appearance of the word "freedom" (amagi), or "liberty." It is taken from a clay document written about 2300 B.C. in the Sumerian city-state of Lagash.
