Health Care Celebrity Death Match

The Cato Unbound issue on health care has reached the rebuttal stage. I write,

...So I agree with Holt's diagnosis, that health care providers have too much political power. But his prescription–to put more of the health care system under the purview of government–seems perverse. It is like telling someone with adult-onset diabetes to go eat more doughnuts.

Another simile would be "It is like telling someone with adult-onset diabetes to go seek counsel and treatment from Hersheys."

It remains a source of astonishment to me that people believe that governments are somehow more virtuous than other organizations, despite the horrific track record to the contrary.

I like to think of jb's point in the form of a Brad DeLong headline:

WHY CAN'T 1/7 OF OUR ENTIRE ECONOMY BE UNDER THE DIRECT CONTROL OF THESE IDIOTS?

I gather from Arnold's rebuttal that he was able to figure out what Holt meant by "cross-subsidies" in catastrophic insurance. That's more than I can say for myself! Is KlingCare going to require community rating in this market or something?
