Today I’m flying to New York to tape a segment tomorrow for John Stossel’s show on Thursday, January 13. It’s on the Fox Business Network @ 9:00 p.m. and midnight EST Thursday and @ 9:00 p.m. and midnight EST on Saturday, January 15. The topic: my study of how the Canadian government moved its federal budget from deficit to surplus with mainly budget cuts between 1994 and the late 2000s and how they managed to actually cut tax rates (individual and corporate) in the last decade. It’s based on a study I wrote for Mercatus titled “Canada’s Budget Triumph.”

Over the years we are slowly trading places with the high tax and spend social democracies. At least they had and excuse-nobody knew what the results would be, they only suspected. Today, we know what the results of this are, yet we continue down this path. I guess because by “we” I mean humanity when we need a different we to know. We need the we that means the general public. If the UK went under, it would show us but they cut cut cut, so that’s probably not going to happen.
