As somebody who has focused since 2007 on housing policy, I agree with Arnold that it should be all about housing policy. Housing policy was merely the direct cause, much like the stock market crash of October 1929 was the direct cause of the Depression. There were and are plenty of other causes. Nonetheless, the urge to ignore the direct cause cannot be defended logically.
