Daniel Reid, a Naval Postgraduate School student of mine from the Spring quarter who really grokked my class, wrote a poem titled “Prices Sing.” Here it is, with his permission:

Such sweetly
multi-layered resonances
compressively veil themselves
within her uniquely
succinct complexity

The nuanced nature
of her interdependent tones
convey not data
but the pre-correlated and
intelligent quanta
of systemic information

Her beauty
is never wasted
on those few
who are informed
on the many ecosystems
of our economies

And any who look
may behold
and enjoy imaginatively
these constellations
which in their
ever-flowing and
ever-spinning display
foretell the futures
which contain
our broad and open ranges
of nascent possibility and
emergent destiny
